Another Great Week!!
We were very busy this past week with our first science test and grammar test.
Remember, no school on Monday!
Your August reading calendars are due on Tuesday, Sept. 2 for a reading quiz grade.
The TechKnowledge Campaign Kick-Off is Tuesday during school. Please look for in information concerning this that will come home in your child's folder on Tuesday (Sept. 2)
Concepts for the week are as follows:
Reading: We will be working on chapters 6-8 of The Lemonade War. We will talk about schema, author's purpose, and similies along with vocabulary from each chapter. Ask your child to tell you about the book. This helps in their reading comprehension.
Grammar: We will begin work this week on subjects and predicates. I have posted two videos and information concerning this concept on the blog under the grammar tab. Check it out!
Science: We will begin talking about the different kingdoms of living things and will learn about plant and animal cells. I have posted some VERY helpful and interesting videos on the science page. Please take some time to view these as the cells can be a little challenging.
Spelling: We will review "Long e" and learn that long e at the end of a word can be spelled with "ie", "ey", "y" such as in words like:
calorie, money, happy
Math and Writing: Check out the other teacher's blogs
