A Peek At Our Week - Dec. 8-12

Busy Week Ahead

**Remember to take a look at the class calendar daily during this busy time!  Thanks!

Hey guys!  We have a busy week ahead.
We will have a dress rehearsal for the musical on Wednesday and Thursday of this week.
Don't forget to bring your costumes to school.
The musical is this Thursday evening at 7:00 in the lower school gym.

Fox Field Trip
The Fox field trip is next week (Dec. 17th).
A chaperon/student letter will go home by Friday of this week, so be on the look out for that.

We will be doing a book exchange in our class this year.  Please bring a wrapped chapter book in by Tuesday, Dec. 16th.  On the tag, write "To a friend" and have your child sign his/her name.  We will play a game with these and each student will take home a book to read for the holidays.  I am suggesting to the kids to buy something that they enjoyed, but others might not have read.

Concepts We Will Study This Week
Reading:  We will start a new story titled Family Under the Bridge this week.  Each student will have a copy to bring home if needed in order to study for quizzes and tests.  I have put an audio of each chapter on the page titled FUTB on the blog if your child wants to listen as they read along.  They will finish listening to Blood on the River this week and take an AR quiz over the book.  They have really seemed to enjoy listening to BOTR and it has gone along great with our social studies curriculum.

Spelling:  This week will be our last spelling unit for this grading period (Unit 3 Week 5).  Do page 59 and make a 100 on the pre-test in order to exempt spelling this week (unless you won the "Owl of Exemption" - Aryn, Emmie, Braylee, and Michael John - Congrats!!!

Social Studies:  We will begin working on Chapter 4 and the lessons 1-4.  The vocabulary test will be on Monday, Dec. 15th and the chapter test will be on Tuesday, Dec. 16th.  Remember that all information in the SSNB is test material.

Grammar:  We will finish this week with verb tenses and subject/verb agreement.  A study guide will go home on Friday, Dec. 12th and the verb test will be on Monday, Dec. 15th.

Math and Writing:  Check out the other teachers' sites for information about these subjects.
